Apparently Texas is the place to be when it comes to heavy music these days. First you guys get the only Ozzfest date in 2008. You've already got to bear witness to the killer SXSW festival, and now Texans can rejoice at the arrival of Chaos in Tejas which will take place in Austin, Texas from June 2-5.
Chaos in Tejas is a killer four day festival consisting of a plethora of heavy metal, hardcore, indie, grind, thrash, and most prominently punk rock bands from all around the world and of all generations. In a sense, it’s sort of like a different version of the Vans Warped Tour. But don’t count this festival out as being the new kid on the block – this is the seventh year of Chaos in Tejas, and they have been joined previously by the likes of LOS CRUDOS, EYEHATEGOD, PROPAGANDHI, ROKY ERICKSON, CRO-MAGS, HARVEY MILK, X, RORSCHACH, TED LEO, AMEBIX, SUBHUMANS, THE THERMALS, and others.
lated to be on the 2011 bill is an endless list of bands that would be way too long to catalog. After all, there is four days worth of music to be heard. Among the many, legendary punk rockers KILLING JOKE will be performing. And yes, this is the same KILLING JOKE that has now been around for 32 years and can be said to have directly influenced legendary metal Gods METALLICA as they covered the now famous KILLING JOKE tune “The Wait”.
Another notable on the bill is Massachusetts’ own CONVERGE who have been paving the road in the hardcore world ever since 1990. Also appearing will be CITIZEN’S ARREST who have been around the block and were a part of the legendary New York City CBGB’s hardcore punk rock scene during the 80’s and 90’s.
For fans looking for a more metal oriented fix, they can look forward to performances by BARONESS and death metal monsters AUTOPSY who will all be joining the massive mix of heavy music at this year’s Chaos in Tejas.
2011’s Chaos in Tejas is sure to not disappoint fans of heavy music; whether it be punk rock, hardcore, death metal, or anything in between. With 96 hours worth of hard rocking, this is a chance to see the legends like KILLING JOKE and CONVERGE while checking out the newer bands who have been born because of the blood, sweat, and tears put into the scene by their predecessors.
