Canadians Need Metal Too! TROIS-RIVIÈRES Metalfest Announces Lineup

Canadian metalheads take note: Cavalera Conspiracy and Napalm Death have been confirmed for the 11th installment of the Trois-Rivières Metalfest: set to take place on Friday, October 14th, and Saturday, October 15th. The festival will be held in one of the oldest industrial pockets of Quebec, otherwise known as Trois-Rivières. Beneath the Massacre (Montreal), L'esprit du clan (France), Insurrection (Gatineau), and Kalter (Quebec) are also confirmed for the festival, adding to the already insurmountable levels of raw aggression (à la classic thrash and grind!).

On the road and mid-way through their North American tour, Cavalera Conspiracy catapulted itself back onto the metal radar, full-force, in March 2011, with their release of Blunt Force Trauma. The album was described by founding member and ex-frontman of legendary Brazilian metal outfit, Sepultura, Max Cavalera, as "intense" enough to make its precedent sound like a "pop album." With the same dedication to unadulterated rage and all out thrash intensity, it would seem logical that a band formed by two diligent as hell members like the Cavalera bro's would dish out a full continent's worth of touring.

Even more mind-blowing than the appearance of these Brazilian-based thrashers on the festival's bill is Napalm Death, who'll be inciting its stages – two years after their (most recent) studio album – Time Waits for No Slave. Far from the enslavement by the industry, or confinement to any sonic predictability, the United Kingdom-based grindcore outfit has undergone enough line-up changes, experimentation with metal sound, and (dis-)graced enough continents with their music to make their appearance a humbling honor. Couple their punk roots, short but guttural, sociopolitically charged energy with the similarly inspired Cavalera style, and you've got the makings of utter, live devastation.

The remaining bands for the bill will be announced within the next few weeks. You can keep yourselves posted by visiting: www.troisrivieresmetal.com.
