Being in a band is never an easy task and requires the support of those around you to help you push through the hard times and hopefully see some modicum of success. Being the parent of one of the members of The Ghost Inside must've been an entirely more difficult journey, especially dealing with the aftermath of the horrific bus crash the band experienced.
Thankfully, bassist Jim Riley left the accident relatively unscathed, and actually found himself back on the road this past summer playing bass for Falling In Reverse. Riley just posted a very touching Instagram post noting a gift he got for his mom.
The note read:
My mom believed in me and my dream to pursue music when nobody else did. She let me move back in with her so I could go on tour when I would bring home next to nothing. She paid my phone bill, kept me on her car insurance, bought the groceries and god knows what else, all while she was struggling to pay her mortgage, in order to keep my dream alive. Her whole life has been like this—self sacrifice for her kids. She called me the other day and said she needed to look for a new car. She was embarrassed to ask for a little loan, but she’ll be more embarrassed reading this caption when I say: the car is yours. I can never repay what you’ve done for me, but consider this a down payment. Love you to the moon.
Why am I getting all choked up?! Now that's a good son.
