Corey Taylor's Guest Spot On A Nü-Metal Track From 1998 Finally Surfaces

Roadrunner tried to hide this one.

Roadrunner tried to hide this one.

1998 – the year Slipknot would sign a seven-album deal with Roadrunner Records, and the year before they would explode with their debut self-titled album. 1998 was also the year vocalist Corey Taylor would guest on the song "Shadowed" by Mason City, IA-based nü-metal band Smakdab. Smakdab's record was produced by Kevin Miles and Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison, though the latter was not credited in the release.

According to an article by MetalSucks, Smakdab keyboardist Gabe Wilkinson said his band received a letter from Roadrunner "making it very clear to not put Corey or Joey’s name anywhere on our release." Now 21 years later and Slipknot being a massive household name, why not reveal that information and re-introduce the track to the world? As far as "Shadowed" goes musically, it is very much a product of nü-metal in 1998. I also don't need to point out what parts Corey Taylor sings. You'll know.

Slipknot will release a new record this August, presumably featuring Smakdab members uncredited due to their soon-rising fame.
