Last week, we pointed out the idiotic homophobia of All That Remains frontman Phil LaBonte with his pointless slurs at the frontman of Black Veil Brides. I guess Frankie Palmeri keeps up with the metal blogs because he decided to chime in with some words of wisdom. We all know he loves using "faggot", so he decided to shed some light on his philosophy. My brain hurts so much from this that I'm just going to copy and paste my buddy, Vince Neilstein's brilliant retort to this lunacy:
The ignorance displayed here by Palmeri is completely mind-boggling, but then again so is the simplicity of Emmure’s music… but I digress. If Frankie’s point is that gay people shouldn’t use the word “faggot” amongst themselves (and that by extension black people shouldn’t call each other “nigger”), I don’t follow his logic; I can’t think of any better way to rebel against homophobes/racists/etc than to take a derogatory word they coined for you and to co-opt it for your own use.
I couldn't have worded it any better (which is why I chose not to, duh!). But as Vince astutely points out, one positive coming out of all of this is that there is finally a discussion about this in the metal community.
