Things have been pretty quiet around here this week, and around metal in general. There was still some news that surfaced this week that we'd like to quickly inform you of. We'll be back to our regular schedules next week after the New Year. For now, here's the news:
Darkest Hour have confirmed on their Facebook page that they have parted ways with drummer Ryan Parrish. Parrish, who writes a semi-regular column for us here at Metal Injection, was unavailable for comment at this time. He will join his former Darkest Hour bandmate, Kris Norris for a new project called A Cancerous Affair.
Chimaira have announced their 2012 lineup, now that guitarists Rob Arnold and Matt DeVries have moved on to Six Feet Under. The band is now Daathier than ever, with Emil Werstler moving from bass to guitar, Daath bassist Jeremy Creamer coming in for bass duties and Chimaira is rounded out by Matt Szlachta (Dirge Within) on guitars, adding to Daath vocalist Sean Zatorsky on keyboards, Austin D'Amond on drums and lone original member, and massive pothead Mark Hunter on vocals.
The holiday break is not stopping Periphery from posting a ton of videos to their Youtube page documenting their album recording process.
Suicide Silence did a really awesome thing this Christmas. They auctioned off Mitch Luckner's shirt from the "You Only Live Once" video, one of our top videos of the year, and a fan bought it for $800. Wowza! They took those 800 big ones, and used them to buy toys for some underprivelaged kids. Check out this video recap about it. Very cool.
If you have 50 cents to spare, you can download Agoraphobic Nosebleed's new A Joyful Noise holiday grind EP for the price of a bag of Doritios.
Metallica's James Hetfield does not like it when papparazzi take his photo, may or may not throw like a girl.
Check out this massive royalty check Trivium's Matt Heafy got recently.
Trash Talk are totally down with hip-hop's Tyler the Creator and his posse, Odd Future. Check out this meeting of the minds.
Don't forget, we just released our iPhone app and our Roku channel. And, if you feel like you need some new swag in your closet, snatch up some Metal Injection merch.
