We've been covering the insane things Dave Mustaine says so much lately, that I've decided to create a new category to store all his insanity, which I retroactively tagged with some of my favorite past writings about his outspoken opinion. Today, a story where Mustaine says something that I don't really disagree with. In a recent interview with LA Weekly, Mustaine was talkingabout raising his son, Justis (no, that's not a nickname, that's how it's actually spelled) and had this gem of a quote:
Yeah, but as bad as I was, I'm able to share that with Justis…Instead of saying, "Don't do this," say, "This is what I did, and this is what happened, and here's an alternative to do for that."
There's so many houses without a dad that it's just terrible. I mean, you know how they used to say there should be a license to have a baby? Well, as far-fetched as that sounds, I really think that, if the parents aren't going to stick together, they shouldn't make that kind of commitment to life. I watch some of these shows from over in Africa, and you've got starving women with six kids. Well, how about, you know, put a plug in it? It's like, you shouldn't be having children if you can't feed them.
Now obviously Mustaine is being a little tongue-in-cheek here, but of all the asinine things he has said the last few weeks, this would be the least crazy. People should not have babies if they are not willing to commit to raising them. On the other hand, the reason these women in Africa are having so many children is because of the contraceptive mis-education brought on by their religion, Christianity, which just so happens to be the same one that Mustaine himself follows.
