One of the most interesting aspects of the sludge and doom metal scenes rise to prominence over the last few years has been how those bands have wound up fusing heavier sounds with a variety of other genres. The progressive inspired musings of Void Of Sleep are simply the latest iteration of this. Their music is sludgy as it gets.
They also are clearly enamored with some of the prog metal greats. The band stuns with how they dance between rhythms and time signatures. It speaks to some truly talented musicians pulling together an impressive feat. It's hard not to be enamored with their new record, Metaphora. Though these Italians may be going through the ringer with the coronavirus right now, Metaphora denotes a clear step forward for the band, a ray of hope in a bleak world.
