Morbid Angel guitarist Trey Azagthoth is already considered a legend in most death metal circles, but now his legend has added another story to it. Azagthoth was arrested on January 1st (although the news broke last Wednesday), pulled over for speeding and was arrested given a DUI.
According to a report from The Smoking Gun, when Azagthoth, whose real name is George Emmanuel, was arrested, he told the police officer "I'm a professional drinker."
Azagthoth was given a sobriety test, on which he performed poorly. The police report stated that his blood alcohol level was measured at .218 and .211, nearly three times the legal limit of .08.
After being arrested, Azagthoth admitted to consuming 1 – 2 shots of whiskey before driving. Azagthoth was arrested on a misdemeanor DUI charge. He was released early yesterday released from the county jail on his own recognizance.
