KORN Revisiting The Idea Of A Covers Album While In Quarantine

"With this time off, that maybe— something to do while we're at home."

korn 2019

In 2019, Korn bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu revealed the band's desire to put out a covers album called Korn Kovers. Now that the band has some time on their hands, guitarist Brian "Head" Welch tells Metal Hammer Korn might pick the idea back up.

"We have five or six [songs] done, and Jonathan Davis was really hyped on the idea of doing unique covers — just something fun. So we need to get back into that frame of mind. With this time off, that maybe— something to do while we're at home."

It's also interesting to go back and read that Fieldy comment again from the 2019 interview. Fieldy mentions Korn recording two cover songs "that you would never, ever think that we did" for The Nothing, though no covers were ever released as a part of the album.

"I like the idea of being able to buy a CD with just Korn covers, so it's not like you're trying to make your band blow up off of a cover," Fieldy explained in a 2019 interview. "But you never know how that works, 'cause we did do 'Another Brick In The Wall', and that song turned out amazing. But we don't play it that much. I wish we would, because there's nothing but good feedback, from what I hear. For some reason, it doesn't make it into the set too much. It does, but it doesn't."
