Job for a Cowboy began teasing what we all assumed was a comeback in late 2019. Then earlier this year, the band posted a clip from the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie where Shang Tsung is screaming "IT HAS BEGUN." Which of course we all took as a sign there was a reunion brewing. Though the band never directly commented on the situation.
Now producer Jason Suecof has spilled the beans in an interview with The Ex-Man with Doc Coyle podcast. Suecof said Job for a Cowboy was supposed to be in the studio right now, but COVID-19 screwed that up.
"I am working on a little Necro pre-pro. Supposed to be recording Job For a Cowboy right now but, ya know, the apocalypse and all."
Coyle also pointed out that Job for a Cowboy just kept getting better as they released albums, yet somehow got less and less popular. Suecof said he hopes that's nobody's fault.
"Whose fault is that? I hope nobody’s. And more importantly I feel like the last album they did was a good one for ’em because everyone was into the bass tone. I’ve enjoyed doing every one of their albums. They’re probably one of my favorites. It’s always better when you’re doing something that you’re 100% into, you know?"
The last Job for a Cowboy album we got was Sun Eater in 2014. The band did not tour on that release. Instead, the only time Job for a Cowboy played live since Sun Eater's release was as a reunion in 2016 at the Modified Ghost Festival. The band's lineup then was vocalist Jonny Davy, guitarists Alan Glassman and Tony Sannicandro, bassist Nick Schendzielos, and drummer Jon Rice.
