Indian Progressive Band THE COSMIC TRUTH Fights the Divide With "Not In My Name"

Equal parts pensive and pissed off, India-based prog metal band The Cosmic Truth give a damning hymn against those that would rather we be divided.

The Cosmic Truth start this passionate music video laying out the facts of the diversity found in their country. The set the tone by addressing peaceful times in their past, regardless of the country's nearly 20,000 different languages and religious beliefs. And then they shift to a sharp condemnation of leaders who seem to only be able to hold on to power by sowing division based on race, ethnicity and/or religion.

You may recognize singer Jayant Bhadula, of one of India's other well known metal gems, Bloodywood. However, he brings an entirely different style here, employing a softer verse with a sprinkling of his suganture hard hitting growls in the chorus.

Cosmic truth states: ""Not in my name" is about the power of the people and their voice of dissent. India's face of this movement was aimed at the divisive nature of policies implemented by its leaders. It's a call for harmony in the midst of rising hatred between communities fueled by the people in power purely for political gains. The lyrics portray pensiveness and anguish. Our message goes out to the world and we urge people to question their beliefs."

This is a powerful message not just within India, but across the world where we are more divided than ever.
