Proggers VALENCE Pays Homage to The Big Lebowski "If You're Not Into The Whole Brevity Thing" Video

It's not short.

New York's own instrumental progressive metal unit Valence is here with both riffs and an excellent amount of self-awareness on their new music video for "If You're Not Into The Whole Brevity Thing," directed by Derek Soto. The band is also becomes everyone from The Big Lebowski, which is very important.

"With the long absence from the stage (thanks, Covid!), we thought it would be a good time to put together another music video for a song that has become a favorite at our live shows," said the band. "And because we love The Big Lebowski so, we worked hard to embody the essence of Dudism (well, as hard as one can work and still be considered a follower of The Dude). We're happy to share this homage with you and if you don't like it, well that's just like your opinion, man."

“Prog can sometimes be a little uptight, so it’s kind of our mission to make it more dudely," added guitarist Geoffrey Schaefer. Obviously we’re all Big Lebowski devotees — I’m actually a Dudist priest — so it only felt right to make an homage to what’s clearly the greatest movie of all time."

"If You're Not Into The Whole Brevity Thing" is off Valence's 2019 album Cognitive Dissidents, available here.
