Slipknot has been in the studio knocking out a new album over the past year, and if their hints are any indication, it looks like we'll finally be hearing a new track this weekend.
On October 6th, frontman Corey Taylor revealed Slipknot will release a new single "in the next month or so" prior to announcing the record. The band has a huge Knotfest LA show this weekend, at a stadium and hints seem to suggest we might hear a new song there. Slipknot will be livestreaming the event on web PPV.
Fans who visited the Knotfest website today saw an advertising takeover that says "Read all about it if you want to know." When fans click on the takeover, they are taken to TheChapelTownRag.com, where you can hear nine samples of what we assume is new music. The samples were available as NFT purchases, but it seems they have all sold out.
During Taylor's interview with The Eddie Trunk Podcast, he offered some more details on the new music. "Actually, it's pretty much done. I'd say it's probably about eighty percent done. We're finishing up some music, [and] I've got a couple more songs to sing. However, I will say this – don't be surprised if in the next month or so you hear something new."
When asked what the single will sound like, Taylor said it's "more of a 'let's bludgeon everybody and remind them why we're still Slipknot' kind of vibe." Taylor added the single will be a part of the new album, and will "remind people why they love Slipknot."
Taylor previously also chimed in about the new material, saying the new stuff has "made me start thinking outside my own box and challenging myself." The new album will be Slipknot's final effort for Roadrunner, and the band is hoping to have it out by the end of the year.
