CHRIS BARNES "Despises" What Death Metal Vocals Have Become, Refuses To Elaborate

He says death metal nowadays makes him "physically ill."

Vocalist Chris Barnes (Six Feet Under, ex-Cannibal Corpse) recently watched the A Death Metal Round Table on Knotfest featuring vocalists George "Corpsegrinder" Fischer of Cannibal Corpse, Travor Strnad of The Black Dahlia Murder, Chase Mason of Gatecreeper, and Alex Jones of Undeath (as surmised by Blabbermouth). Barnes then took to Twitter to say that the video made him "physically ill," that he "despises what this genre has become," and put the word "top" in quotes for good measure.

Hatebreed vocalist Jamey Jasta then asked Barnes to come on his podcast The Jasta Show and discuss the statement, to which Barnes replied he's not gonna do that and doesn't want to jump on "the bandwagon." Barnes further commented that he "ain't here to play that game," which is… weird considering he's the one that originally got on Twitter to talk shit about the conversation.

Check out the full interaction below, as well as the roundtable via Knotfest. Just try not to throw up while you're watching it. Barnes originally fronted Cannibal Corpse between 1988 and 1995 before being replaced by Fisher. Prior to leaving, Barnes formed Six Feet Under in 1993 and has been fronting them ever since.
