Bring Me The Horizon joined pop star Ed Sheeran on stage at The BRIT Awards earlier this week for a heavy version of Sheeran's song "Bad Habits." Now in an interview with the Daily Star (via The PRP), Sheeran reveals he and Bring Me The Horizon are working on a new song together and that he's been in touch with the band's vocalist Oli Sykes.
"We're going to write a song together… playing with Bring Me The Horizon was a dream. I got in touch with Oli and we were going to write together but then the pandemic happened, so we were in touch – I've been a fan for a long time.
"Oddly enough that's the kind of music I grew up listening to and had a Kerrang! subscription and I listened to it constantly."
It's not too shocking that Sheeran is finally taking a step toward making heavier music. Sheeran has previously expressed interest in making a death metal album and even teaming up with Cradle Of Filth vocalist Dani Filth.
"I was really into death metal as a kid. I listened to Cradle Of Filth and Slipknot and all that stuff. I'm not saying I could ever step into that world," said Sheeran in a 2021 interview. "I learnt all those riffs on guitar as a kid. That's something I've never thought about doing – but something I would not be opposed to creating."
At the very least, this should be a pretty interesting experiment! Though personally I'd love to see Sheeran just come out and absolutely crush it at being heavy.
