MASTODON's Brent Hinds Checks Into The WEST END HOTEL With A New Song

We've mentioned West End Hotel on the site before when Brent Hinds went on tour with the band in 2010. Looks like with all the recent downtime Mastodon had, Brent has managed to find enough time to finish an album worth of music with this side project.

There is a new track called "Burn It Down" streaming at RollingStone.com, and it sounds nothing like Mastodon. It's a laid back track, with a silly Casio intro, and I just imagine a bunch of guys sitting around a very sunlit porche just jamming and recording the song. Here is how Hinds describes it:

"I walked into [singer] Tom Cheshire's house one day and him and [pianist-guitarist] Mike Shina were playing the chords and I just started singing the lyrics right there out of the blue," Hinds tells Rolling Stone. "We were being kinda silly and had the cheesy Casio island beat on, playing around with the two chords. We decided that it would be funny to just leave it in when we recorded it… so ridiculous!"

Stream the song here and let us know what you think.
