Twenty six years ago yesterday (Sept. 27), bassist Cliff Burton was tragically killed when Metallica's tour bus hit a patch of black ice and flipped over. We know the story, we've all seen the Metallica "Behind The Music." Last week, we paid tribute to Cliff by posting his amazing isolated bass track from "Orion" and this week Metallica has one-upped us. The band have released a free bootleg of their November 22, 1984 concert in France, which they played with Cliff. This was during the Master Of Puppets album cycle (oopsy, it's the Ride The Lightning cycle), so it's what many consider the zenith of Metallica's career.
You can download the bootleg here, but just a warning, you need to sign up to the site to acquire it.
What's your favorite song during the Cliff era? Mine has to be "Ride The Lightning."
