After nearly a year off due to injuries and the recording of their upcoming realease Alpha, Georgia-based Sevendust are back on the road in blistering fashion. Packing in a 90-minute set showcasing their entire career, the Alpha Tour brings a lot to the table.
An impressive stage set-up with ramps and lighting towers surrounded the group as they took the stage to a thundering crowd. Jumping into songs from their album Next the band got the fans energized with songs like “Ugly” and “Pieces.”
It’s hard not to get into the vibe at a show when a band looks like they’re having this much fun on stage. Jumping around to the music, posing, smiling and engaging looks with the fans. Their mix of kinetic anger and impressive vocals of frontman Lajon Witherspoon are a great combination of pure emotion and talent.
Turbulent drum-work and shrieking back-up vocals from drummer Morgan Rose serve a strong feature for the band, who certainly seem to showcase his talents by setting his drums on top of a lighted riser, drawing more attention to his role in the band.
Mixed in with fan favorites were four new songs from Alpha due out March 6th. Definitely aimed toward the heavier side of their music, the new tracks head back to their early roots, much to the delight of crowd. Fans who pre-ordered the album through Ticketmaster were given meet and greet tickets to stick around the venue after the show lined up around the walls of the venue, and by the volume of fans diligently waiting to meet their idols, it’s obvious this band still has a strong following.
