The upcoming Pantera shows have been a source of debate among metal fans ever since they were announced, though they really shouldn't be. If you're into it, then go; if not, stay home. Simple! Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford is firmly in the former camp, as he's expressed to Cutter's RockCast.
In the interview, Halford said Black Label Society guitarist Zakk Wylde and Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante are the perfect compliments to vocalist Phil Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown, saying "If you know about the way Charlie feels about Pantera, you know the way Zakk feels, the skill that they both have to do the songs justice."
"Man, this is important — it's important. And Phil's voice is the voice of Pantera. What Rex does is as important. So, what's not to love about this really special moment that we're all gonna go nuts [for]?" He later added "I'm gonna be on the side of the stage, 'cause we're both on the same bill that night [at Mexico's Hell & Heaven Metal Fest]. I'm gonna be banging my head like a maniac. I'm so happy for them."
Pantera's current live plans include Knotfest Colombia, Knotfest Chile, Knotfest Brasil, and Hell & Heaven Metal Fest.
Knotfest Colombia will take place on December 9 at the Estadio Nemesio Camacho El Campín in Bogotá, Knotfest Chile on December 11 at the Estadio Monumental in Santiago, and Knotfest Brasil on December 18 at the Sambódromo do Anhembi in São Paolo. Hell & Heaven Metal Fest is happening on December 2 at the Foro Pegaso in Otzacatipan, Mexico.
