Of all the worthless award shows, the Grammys have to be the kings of worthlessness. Every year, who wins is not even about who actually put out the best album, but who the geriatric Grammy committee has actually even heard of in passing. That's why winning a Grammy doesn't mean you're a good artist, it just means your music has been marketed well. With that, here are the nominees for Best Metal Performance:
Heroes Of Our Time: DragonForce
Nostradamus: Judas Priest
My Apocalypse: Metallica
Under My Thumb: Ministry
Psychosocial: Slipknot
I'm calling it right now, it's METALLICA without a doubt. The only band that probably 99% of the Grammy staff has heard of. And really, Grammys? Nominating Ministry for a cover? Were there not enough original metal songs for you to choose from? The other metal-related nominees after the jump…
Best Hard Rock Performance
Inside the fire: Disturbed
Visions: Judas Priest
Wax Simulacra: The Mars Voltra
Saints Of Los Angeles: Motley Crue
Lords Of Salem: Rob Zombie
I predict either Mars Volta or Rob Zombie!
Best Rock Instrumental Performance
Castellorizon: David Gilmour from Live At Dansk
Suicide & Redemption: Metallica
34 Ghosts I-IV: Nine Inch Nails
Hope (Live For The Art Of Peace): Rush
Peaches En Regalia: Zappa On Zappa
Metallica vs. NIN and David Gilmour? This is a toughie! Going to go with Gilmour just because they always give it to the old dude.
Metallica is also nominated for Best Rock Album (which they will lose to Coldplay) and Best Packaging which they may win. Overall, loooks like this could be Metallica's night.
