Slipknot is done with Roadrunner and apparently so is their frontman Corey Taylor. According to Billboard, Taylor has signed with BMG for the release of his second solo album CMFT2 sometime later this year. Taylor's debut solo album CMFT was released through Roadrunner in 2020.
"I wanted to work with BMG because they came in super hot wanting to work with me, and they've been keeping the fires burning for rock, punk and metal over the last few years," said Taylor in an interview with Billboard.
CMFT2 will also be the first release on Taylor's new BMG imprint album Decibel Cooper, which he plans on using to help other artists in the future.
"Decibel Cooper will not only allow me to release my own music and art worldwide, but it also gives me a solid way to help bolster any rad new acts I want to put on the roster," said Taylor. "BMG is going to help me put my money where my mouth is — giving a boost to the next generation."
"We are thrilled to welcome Corey Taylor to the BMG family," said Jason Hradil Executive VP of New York/Senior VP of International Marketing. "His new album is an extension of the incredible body of work he's assembled over his career, and we can't wait for fans around the world to hear it later this year."
Maybe Decibel Cooper will also see the release of that side project between Taylor and Slipknot guitarist Jim Root? All we know is that Taylor briefly talked about a potential side project with Root in 2022, which would be the first time Root and Taylor worked together outside Slipknot since Root quit Stone Sour in 2014.
"He and I are very different people and we were both going through our own shit in life," said Taylor. "We reconnected, and we're actually talking about doing some stuff on the side, outside of Slipknot and Stone Sour. It's cool to find your friend again and realize that you can find your way back to people that you care about.
"Honestly, I can't sit here and say that I wasn't responsible for some of the bad feelings. That can only come with self-reflection, and the fact that the things that were going on in my life rippled and affected other people. Once you own up to that, you can start to mend bridges by showing people that you are truly sorry."
