Late and great founding Avenged Sevenfold drummer James "The Rev" Sullivan may have passed away in 2009, but his memory lives on with the band's upcoming record Life Is But A Dream. In an interview with Metal Hammer, Avenged Sevenfold vocalist M. Shadows said the record features an unused bridge written by The Rev on the song "Mattel" and a lyric on the song "Beautiful Morning".
"That's something him and [guitarist Synyster Gates] came up with a long time ago: 'It's a beautiful morning, it's a beautiful day, everybody is smiling, in a beautiful way,'" said Shadows of the lyric. "That's when it [the song] gets creepy."
Shadows also spoke a little about the unexpected musical direction of the new record, saying "He'd be stoked. Me and [Synyster Gates] know that guy better than anyone. He was always the biggest proponent of instigation and trying new things."
Avenged Sevenfold will release Life Is But A Dream on June 2. Avenged Sevenfold originally announced two special shows at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, CA on June 9 and another at Madison Square Garden in New York City, NY on June 23. Avenged Sevenfold then expanded those into a full blown tour, which you can get the dates for below. Get your tickets here.
