American black metal band Vattnet Viskar have finally announced their debut album Sky Swallower. Thank. Fucking. God.
The clarion call for the next wave of American black metal really has sounded, and Vattnet Viskar is leading the charge. Last year's critically acclaimed self-titled EP was one of my favorite records of 2012 — if not my favorite.
Sky Swallower, due out September 3 via Century Media, was recorded at Universal Noise Storage with producer Brett Boland at the helm. Here's the track list:
1. New Alchemy
2. Fog of Apathy
3. Monarch
4. Breath of the Almighty
5. Ascend
6. Mythos
7. As I Stared Into the Sky
8. Apex
Vattnet Viskar is currently blazing their trail through New England, performing their upcoming debut in entirety, on a string of dates with I Am Heresy and Astronoid. If you are lucky enough to catch a show, go check it out before you regret it.
I luckily got to see them for the first time, second time, and third time during the SXSW music festival earlier this year in Austin. Here's the dates:
7/7 – Cambridge MA @ Middle East
7/17 – Providence, RI @ Dusk
7/19 – Brooklyn, NY @ Acheron
7/20 – Philadelphia, PA @ Kung Fu Necktie
7/21 – Florence, MA @ JJ’s tavern w/ Howl and Lord Dying
