DAVE MUSTAINE Names The One Way He Sees MEGADETH Ending Right Now

"But it seems like the sun is still rising in the land of all things [Megadeth]."

Dave Mustaine has been heading up the machine that is Megadeth for 40 years at this point, aside from a brief intermission in the early 2000s. Mustaine has released 16 albums with Megadeth – The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! in 2022 being their most recent – undergone tons of members changes, and played thousands of shows at this point.

All that being said, Mustaine is 61 years old and battled throat cancer in 2019. So while Megadeth isn't looking to hang it up anytime soon, the topic is certainly looming in the background. In an interview with The Jeremy White Show, Mustaine said the only way he sees Megadeth ending right now is if he loses his ability to sing.

"I'm sure that that's going to come at some point, but you know I don't see anything right now," said Mustaine as transcribed by Metal Injection. "I feel good about my health and… the only thing that would be weird is if I ever got in a situation where I have to stop singing. Even if I could play, if I couldn't sing – I think because of [Megadeth] being built on my voice – I don't think that I would carry on. I just think if I didn't do that, I would be cheating the fans.

"Not that I'm a great singer, but I have a lot of a lot of thinking to do as we are watching the sun rise on our career right now. Because it should should be setting. It's setting on a lot of my peers' career, if it isn't already set. But it seems like the sun is still rising in the land of all things [Megadeth]."

I mean, that makes sense right? Mustaine's backing band has come and go over the years, but nobody else has ever fronted Megadeth.
