I'm not sure which one confuses me more; the fact that Mustaine is looking into different lyrical topics for another record, or the fact that he's working on another record.
I know it's super easy to simply crap all over Mustaine every time he essentially does anything, but not this time. This time I genuinely commend the man for trying to expand his horizons and reach out to some new lyrical content… even though Super Collider was called what it was called and didn't have anything about science, but whatever! That's in the past now and we can just pretend it was a bad dream. Mustaine tweeted:
“I have been studying a lot of world history and a lot of crazy science stuff for new lyrics. This world is so fascinating!”
So maybe we'll get some new Megadeth late in 2014? Obviously it's a far cry from writing lyrics to a new album, but he's planning something if he's writing lyrics. I feel bad being excited, but I am; maybe Super Collider was just this decades' Risk? Or maybe he's looking to write songs for more video games.
