System Of A Down bassist Shavo Odadjian has been working on his heavy solo album for a little while now. Odadjian has finally unveiled the lineup for his new solo band, which features vocalist Taylor Barber (Left To Suffer), guitarist Alejandro Aranda, drummer Josh Johnson, and producer Michael "MorgothBeatz" Montoya (Winds Of Plague).

"So many of you know I'm in LA rn working on music but now I can tell everyone that I am the singer for Shavo Odadjian of System Of A Down's solo project, Project Shavo!" wrote Barber of his new position. "I am so incredibly thankful and excited to crank this record out with some insanely talented people. LFG"

All we know so far is that Odadjian's new project is gonna be heavy. Odadjian previously elaborated on his upcoming album in an interview with Sobre La Dosis, saying System Of A Down is still on a creative hiatus and that his new stuff will indeed be heavy.

"[There won't be new System Of A Down] in the near future. We're still on a musical hiatus – a creative hiatus – but we're playing at Sick New World in Las Vegas on May 13th and I got a solo record coming out very soon. So that's heavy, and it's big. It's not hip-hop, it's just crazy because usually all my side projects have been kind of hip-hoppy or electro, but I went down and I wanted to do something that felt right to me from day one. That's my DNA. So look out for the solo record."

Interestingly, vocalist Howard Jones (Light The Torch, ex-Killswitch Engage) posted a photo of himself in the studio with Odadjian and Montoya back in December. Whether that has anything to do with Odadjian's solo project remains to be seen, if anything.
