Former ANTHRAX Guitarist Dan Spitz Arrested For Domestic Violence On Christmas

It was not a very merry Christmas at the Spitz household. Former Anthrax guitarist, and current Red Lamb guitarist Dan Spitz was arrested early Dec. 25th in his Florida home on charges of domestic violence.

According to Florida's Gossip Extra, who proudly proclaim to be South Florida's online tabloid,  Palm Beach County Sheriff‘s deputies booked Spitz in county jail at 5am on December 25th after allegedly getting into a drunken fight with his wife and manager Candi.

According to records, the two were drinking heavily, and an verbal arguement turned physical, with Candi claiming Spitz wrapped his hands around her neck and choked her. Spitz claims she attacked him first and was spotted with scratches on his neck, chest and arms. Candi's mom told police that while she didn't see the fight, she did hear her daughter scream "I can't breathe" at one point and said Spitz acted aggressively towards his wife all evening. Allegedly, the arguement began over another man whom Candi dated while the two were separated.

Spitz was released  on his own recognizance and is awaiting trial.

Spitz was in Anthrax when the group was big from 1983 to 1995, at which point he left to become a full-time watchmaker. He briefly rejoined the band in 2007 for a reunion, and eventually went on to form his own band, Red Lamb, with Megadeth's Dave Mustaine producing their debut album. Spitz has been very active in raising awareness for autism, as he has autistic twins with Candi.
