Wolfgang Van Halen recently reconnected with former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony during the Mammoth WVH's December 8th concert in Las Vegas, Nevada. Wolfgang, who replaced Anthony in Van Halen back in 2006, described the encounter to Loudwire as "long overdue," and called it a "little reunion".
"He's family. It was long overdue. I think we had planned that at least since I've been touring and it just worked out and it was very wonderful to see him. I love that my mom was there and my uncle Patrick who is also part of the Mammoth team; he goes way back with them. It's really nice to have that little reunion."
The warmth extended beyond words, with both Wolfgang and Michael sharing photos and heartfelt messages on social media. Wolfgang's shared a couple of backstage photos with Anthony and wrote: "Ran into an old friend at the @mammothwvh show in Vegas tonight. (Love ya, Mikey)"
Michael shared a video of the band's performance and a photo of them both and added: "Went to see Mammoth WVH last night here in Vegas, and they threw it down! Love ya Wolf, so great to see ya! (Proud of you brother!!)"
This reconnection is particularly poignant considering the reported long gap between their last meeting. Fans were quick to pick up on the significance, with one asking Michael how long it had been since their last encounter. His simple reply, "First time in 20 years," spoke volumes about the weight of this moment for the two musicians.
