We know one thing for certain: the official lineup for the Rockstar Energy 2014 Mayhem Festival will be confirmed on March 31st by festival organizers. That's what they said when they revealed the itinerary. However, today the entire lineup might've just leaked.
A few names already gotten out. Munky from Korn revealed in an offhanded interview that Korn would be co-headlining with Avenged Sevenfold. Rapper Ice T also confirmed that his metal project Body Count would be on select dates of the fest. Today, it looks like ThePRP got their hands on the rest of the lineup. By which I mean, they were made privy to a leaked tour admat, most likely sent to local promoters in anticipation of the announcement, to get promotional materials ready. The leaked lineup includes:
Avenged Sevenfold
Korn
Asking Alexandria
Trivium
Cannibal Corpse
Suicide Silence
Miss May I
Mushroomhead
Emmure
Texas Hippie Coalition
Veil Of Maya
Upon A Burning Body
Darkest Hour
Body Count
Ill Nino
Wretched
Sister Sin
Islander
Here is the flyer that ThePRP snagged (and watermarked):
A lot of these make sense. Most of these bands will have new releases our have just recently released an album and are on an active tour cycle. There should be one more band, as the festival organizers have been hyping "19 bands on 4 stages" but that could also be a local Jager band. Of course, you should take this with a grain of salt, and try to envision it more as a guide.
The one name that sticks out to me, making this seem as if it's a fake, is Emmure, who played the fest last summer. To my knowledge, no band has played the fest two years in a row, something that the promoters consciously try to avoid. Would Emmure be the first band to break this loose rule? Or does that show that this is just a fan dream lineup with too much time and a copy of Photoshop? If you look at the lineup, where Mushroomhead is listed there seems to be a typo, with an unncessesary "]" inserted between Mushroo & mhead.
Otherwise, it seems like the typical mix of a variety of subgenres as Mayhem Fest has always taken a "something for everyone" type of approach.
We should mention that we are a media partner of the tour, but we have had no prior knowledge of the lineup. We can say that we will be doing our annual ticket giveaway to each stop of the tour. You can see the routing here. Tickets go on sale April 5th.
