STEVE ALBINI Dead At 61 Years Old

Rest in peace to a legend.

Steve Albini

Legendary producer, musician, music journalist, and one hell of a poker player Steve Albini has died at 61 years old of a heart attack. According to a report from Pitchfork, Albini's death was confirmed by staff at his recording studio Electronic Audio, which he owned from 1995 onward.

Albini's mark on music is nothing short of monolithic. Albini is responsible for recording such major albums as Nirvana's In Utero and Pixies' Surfer Rosa, as well as recording and producing albums by Neurosis, Om, Sunn O))), Weedeater, The Jesus Lizard, Helmet, Jawbreaker, and so many more that a whole page would need to be dedicated to it. Outside his credits behind the boards, Albini played in bands like Shellac and Big Black. Shellac recently announced their first new record in 10 years To All Trains, due out next week, and was slated to tour later this year.

We wish Albini's friends and family all the best at this time.
