Oh this edition of Attendance and Earnings is pretty juicy. As always, these numbers are based on Billboard.com's Boxscore report. Let's compare some figures:

Holy moly, if anybody questioned if these Black Sabbath tours make money, wonder no more. Not a bad take leaving with $800k to 1 million a show, is it? I'm sure they pay virtually nothing to the openers too, so they have to be leaving with at least half a mil per show after taxes and production costs, but that's purely speculation.
Artist: Tool
Venue: Palacio de los Deportes – Mexico City, MEX
Date: Mar. 19th, 2014
Gross Sales: $1,042,415
Attendance/Capacity: 17,441 / 20,740

Notice how a 25 dollar difference in ticket price can really change the returning gross on the show. Of course, Tool are a much more established act that A7X so they can get away with it.
Here are a few shows from bands with similar sounds, but very different returns:

Meanwhile, how much does a legendary band like Carcass who are on their reunion tour, pull in:

Date: Mar. 26th, 2014
Gross Sales: $33,837

…oddly shocking that they pull in just as much as Asking Alexandria, filling virtually the same cap rooms.
Meanwhile, Manowar overcharge for tickets, and don't fill out venues, but still leave with a pretty penny:

As you can see, when you're a "working class" band, the returns are far less than a Black Sabbath or a Tool.
