Back in January Metal Injection brought you news that Wolves In The Throne Room were recording a new album to be released sometime in 2014. Celestite as it's called is a massive musical departure for the band that will be largely synthesizer-driven. By now I'm sure you're all chomping at the bit to start complaining because the band is trying something different, but bear with me for just another minute or two as I unload the latest news regarding the new album. Those among you who aren't catapulted into abject rage whenever a band you love decides to take a short detour into the experimental will be happy to know that the release date for Celestite is nigh. The band is releasing the album on July 8th through their new label Artemisia Records. WITTR have also already booked a brief West Coast tour to support the album, the dates and locations for which can be seen below:
Wolves In the Throne Room Tour Dates:
7/11/2014 Capital Theatre Backstage – Olympia, WA
7/12/2014 Shakedown – Bellingham, WA
7/13/2014 The Venue – Vancouver, BC
7/14/2014 Crocodile – Seattle, WA
7/15/2014 Star Theatre – Portland, OR
7/17/2014 Slim’s – San Francisco, CA
7/18/2014 Catalyst Atrium – Santa Cruz, CA
7/19/2014 Che Café – San Diego, CA
7/20/2014 Echoplex – Los Angeles, CA
In addition to the dates listed above, the band plans on playing more shows that haven't been announced yet. So keep your fingers crossed if you live somewhere other than the West Coast. There's no word on whether they plan on playing their new material exclusively or if they'll throw some black metal into the mix, but maybe if you go to one of the shows and scream at them to play "Thuja Magnus Imperium" loud enough they'll oblige. Everyone knows that acting like an obnoxious bore is the best way to win over a band when they're in the midst of a performance. Seriously though, don't do that or you deserve to get punched in the ear.
