The Black Dahlia Murder is getting in on the Halloween fun with a new music video for "Utopia Black". The video looks like The Black Dahlia Murder raided a Spirit Halloween before shredding some S-tier death metal, and we're here for it. The video was directed by Robbie Tassaro, while the single itself comes from The Black Dahlia Murder's latest record Servitude which you can pick up (or stream) right here.
The Black Dahlia Murder in 2024 is vocalist Brian Eschbach, guitarists Brandon Ellis and Ryan Knight, bassist Max Lavelle, and drummer Alan Cassidy. The guitars, bass and vocals for Servitude were recorded at Ellis' home studio in New Jersey, while drums were recorded by Mark Lewis in Nashville. Servitude was mixed by Ellis and Lewis, with mastering from Ted Jensen.
"Following [the late and great vocalist Trevor Strnad]'s legacy, Servitude of course marks the beginning of a new era of The Black Dahlia Murder," said Ellis. "With Brian now taking up the torch, his personality as an inspired lyricist and vocalist shines bright-he knows well what the music needs. Ryan Knight's return to the band adds a third but familiar guitarist to the writing team, as well as allowing for a twin lead guitar element that the band never previously had. This all opens new terrain creatively. Where some doors have closed, new doors have opened."
