SUICIDE SILENCE Is Working On A New Record, CHRIS GARZA Feeling Inspired

It sounds like it might be a very different album, too.

Suicide Silence is working on the follow-up to their 2023 record Remember… You Must Die. According to Suicide Silence guitarst Chris Garza in an interview with Nik Nocturnal, Suicide Silence began working on new material a few weeks prior to their chat. Garza also notes that he's been seeing a lot of new bands live lately, and it's been influencing his playing in some unexpected ways.

"I am in Southern California so it's like, I could… I'm lucky," said Garza as transcribed by Metal Injection. "I'm just going to all these shows. I'm seeing deathcore bands, new metalcore bands. I didn't know who Alpha Wolf was until they they played a small venue down the street, I was like 'okay, I'll check it out.' When you're consistently putting new shit into your mind – could be music, could be books, learning – something happens to to your fucking brain where it forces you to be open-minded, and that causes a new form of being creative.

"So now we started writing our new record two weeks ago, and I don't know man. I'm playing different. It's weird, I don't know. I'm just like 'oh, I wouldn't normally do that.' So it's like, the self-titled backlash, being broke for a long time, plus also being inspired, plus the new bands really pushing me without them knowing. I don't know. I can't put my finger it. Something is happening."

Suicide Silence in 2025 is vocalist Hernan "Eddie" Hermida, guitarists Chris Garza and Mark Heylmun, bassist Dan Kenny, and newcomer drummer Ernie Iniguez who joined the band in 2022.
