Sometimes you have to do something you don't want to do for the greater good.
That's exactly what podcaster Jesse Carey is doing. Jesse hosts the Relevant magazine podcast and he's on a mission. The ultimate test of endurance, as he refers to it. He's listening to Nickelback and only Nickelback for one week straight, 168 hours.
Why would somebody put themselves through such torture? Charity! Carey is doing this in an effort to raise $10k for Charity:Water to build a well. As of this writing, he has doubled his goal and thensome, so that's encouraging. But at what price?
Carey has been tweeting his experience and I can feel his pain:
Night 2 of the Nickelback Challenge complete. Woke up thinking this was all just a bad dream, but then the music JUST KEPT PLAYING

When I want to giving up the NBchallenge, I think of living in a world where Nickelback is more powerful than the human spirit & I press on

Only two days in & I’m already feeling the effects of such huge quantities of Nickelback. We’re in unexplored psychological territory here
— Jesse Carey (@jessecarey) February 18, 2015
Fun fact: After listening to Nickelback overnight for several evenings, you actually get incepted by Nickelback, and they steal your dreams.

Godspeed, Jesse. We're rooting for you.
