Neurosis frontman and guitarist Steve Von Till is a very well known voice in the metal community. He's got that raspy pitched yell that fits just so over Neurosis' bludgeoning slow music. So who knew Von Till could bring forth touching country music like this? Well, if you've been following Von Till's solo career you certainly do, but for the uninitiated such as myself… wow. Looks like it's high time for me to start chucking money at his back catalogue.
The great thing about the song, titled "A Life Unto Itself" (premiered by The Quietus) is that there's really not that much going on in the song. Von Till puts up an atmosphere in the song and just leaves it hanging to slowly gain power in the mind of the listener for a full seven minutes.
Von Till is releasing A Life Unto Itself via Neurot Recordings on May 4.
