They were teasing it and here it is. Lamb of God just posted a new song to their official website titled "Still Echoes"
You can hear it at LambOfGodVII.com. The song plays while the lyrics display on screen. Update: An embeddable stream has surfaced and can be heard below…
The band must be pretty far along with writing and recording because we just got word that the album, which has a title of VII: Sturm und Drang, will be out in July just in time for their tour with Slipknot. The title is German for "Storm and Stress"
Pre-order bundles for the new album are already available.
Frontman Randy Blythe recently launched his first solo photography exhibition. We were there for the opening of it, so make sure to check out our video report.
Update: Randy Blythe offered a new interview to Rolling Stone, which was posted moments ago. The entire interview is worth checking out. Blythe revealed the song is about his time in a Czech prison, specifically citing the line “A thousand heads cut clean across their necks, right down the hall from me,” which referenced:
“There was a guillotine right down the hall from me, from when the Nazis had the prison. From 1943 to 1945 they executed almost 2,000 people by the guillotine, because it was cheaper than shooting and quicker than hanging.”
For those expecting a record entirely filled with prison lyrics, that won't be the case:
“People shouldn’t expect a prison record. But I write about things that affect me very deeply. And going to prison in a foreign country and being charged with manslaughter will affect you – trust me – very deeply.”
As for if he found any closure after writing his book:
"Someone recently asked me, 'Did you get some sort of closure from writing the book?'" Blythe says, looking back on how he managed to process everything that has brought him to this point. "It's not a fucking Hallmark card. It sucked."
The whole interview can be read at RollingStone.com.
