THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From MOTORHEAD, SOILWORK, NILE and More Out Today – 8/28

This edition includes some facts being fucked, the working of some soil, a head being motored and more! To the metals…

Ahab – The Boats Of The Glen Carrig 91XOhX09qCL._SL1500_

Genre: Doom
Origin: Heidelberg, Germany
Label: Napalm

Slow and heavy as fuck, one of my favorite doom bands has returned the lurch about in my brain once again. This has to be their most dynamic release yet. This heavy, but there seems to be some more melody and clean vocals than before infused in. Turn this all the way up and shake your building down.

Fuck The Facts – Desire Will Rot a2931145360_10

Genre: Grindcore/Sludge
Origin: Gatineau, Canada
Label: Noise Salvation

Buy now on Bandcamp.com

I really need to become more familiar with this band. They are indeed grindy, but there's more to their sound than a one dimensional grind assault. There's some sludge that I've never noticed before, there's some prog, and there's plenty of noise.

Kobra and the Lotus – Words Of The Prophets EP kobra-and-the-lotus-words-of-the-prophets(ep)-20150608144742

Genre: Heavy metal
Origin: Calgary, Canada
Label: Titan

Searching for this just by name gets you quite a bit of religious literature, so if you're finding anything but some big rock music, you done searched wrong. Anywhoozle, this EP is all covers to hold fans over until the next record. Bands covered include Rush, Triumph, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, April Wine, and the video below Alannah Myles. Wasn't expecting that song at all from a metal band.

Motorhead – Bad Magic 81rKitTQzcL._SL1500_

Genre: Heavy metal
Origin: London, England
Label: UDR

Buy now on Amazon.com

This album marks the band's 40th year of existence. That's a fucking feat in heavy metal. I'd say it's on par with the last handful of records. Few really cool songs, few clunkers, but unmistakably Motorhead through and through.

Nile – What Should Not Be Unearthed 61z5ZhUHXKL

Genre: Death metal
Origin: Greenville, South Carolina
Label: Nuclear Blast

Buy now on Amazon.com

Technical, chaotic death metal about Egyptian stuff. What Nile is as a band, and what it always shall be. It's heavy and brutal as ever. Although, I honestly can't tell if this album is good or fresh in the Nile oeuvre. Fans, you digging this?

Soilwork – The Ride Majestic 61VuZD1viwL

Genre: Melodic death metal
Origin: Helsingborg, Sweden
Label: Nuclear Blast

Buy now on Amazon.com

I feel like Soilwork was really in a funk around the release of The Panic Broadcast. The albums before that all ran together, despite having a few stand out songs. However, The Living Infinite felt like a breath of fresh air for the band and The Ride Majestic continues the musical diversity, new levels of technicality, and strong song writing. It's already a personal favorite in their catalog.
