Danzig seems to be in a pretty good mood as of late. He's joking about himself on Portlandia, he's putting on skull makeup, and most importantly, he reunited with the Misfits!
While we already heard Jerry Only's side of the story as to how the band reunited, it was interesting to read Danzig's interview with Rolling Stone, where he offered his reasoning for wanting to do the reunion:
"It's been a shock to see so many musicians dying this year," he says. "A lot of them weren't really that old. David Bowie's death came out of the blue, as did Prince's. And I've said it before with Peter Steele and Dio: If you're a music fan, you think these artists will be here forever, but you should enjoy them while they're here, because you never know what will happen. You've got to enjoy it and let it happen before everybody dies." Danzig laughs heartily, and he and Only add that they are in good health, as is Doyle. "My brother could be on the cover of every muscle magazine lately," the bassist says.
Doyle does always look ridiculously jacked.
Interestingly, during Only's interview last week, Only said he and Danzig were always friends. In Danzig's interview, he disagreed adding:
"In the beginning we were friends but," he pauses to find the right words, "certain things happened that made it not a friendship. We're putting that in the past." He says they're taking the time to get used to one another and that they share the common goal of making the reunion shows special.
Danzig went on to say that he wants to make these two shows special, picking the right set list and having an awesome stage production. The entire Rolling Stone piece is worth a read.
I'm really looking forward to the shows in September.
