I think Tribulation broke the genre system with its The Children of the Night record in 2015. Sure, it had a lot of black metal elements to it, but it felt like a psychedelic Led Zeppelin heard Mayhem once and was like "fuck it, we can do that without the blasting."
So now you get to experience that weirdness live in North America this August and September! Better yet, it doesn't look like the band has an opener for the shows either! Though that's clearly subject to change, so here's hoping anyway.
