Today, Consequences of Sound reports that experimental rock gods Tool will be playing their first New York City show in over a decade at next summer's Governor's Ball Music Festival.
The event happens June 2nd – 4th at Randalls Island Park. While Tool haven't played New York City in over a decade, they have played at the neighboring Izod Center in New Jersey in 2012, which is where I last saw them, and their last northeast appearance.
It will be interesting to see the rest of the Governor's Ball lineup, because the festival does not traditionally skew towards rock, but rather more mainstream and indie acts. Last year's festival was headlined by Kanye West, and featured acts like Beck, The Killers and Robyn.
Tool is hard at work on a new album.
