Rolling Stone magazine continues to roll out singular lists for their Greatest Metal Albums of All Time series.
Joining Corey Taylor, Lars Ulrich, Ozzy Osbourne, Gojira's Joe Duplantier, Deafheaven's George Clarke, Avenged Sevenfold's M. Shadows, Bill Ward, Slayer's Kerry King and Rob Halford in the list making process is Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt. Unlike most of the list submitters, Akerfeldt actually felt the need to rank his choices.

9. Deep Purple – Stormbringer
8. Yngwie J. Malmsteen – Rising Force
7. Entombed – Left Hand Path
6. King Diamond – Them
5. Morbid Angel – Altars of Madness
