Chris Cornell's Daughter, Toni, Sings “Hallelujah” in Tribute To Her Dad & Chester Bennington on Good Morning America

Chris Cornell's daughter, Toni, is nothing if not brave. The 12-year-old lost her father and her godfather, Linkin Park's Chester Bennington, in the span of two months.

In what must be a very difficult time for the young girl, she decided to appear on this morning's Good Morning America on ABC to perform Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” with the band One Republic. The song has much meaning to Toni, as it was the one that Bennington sang at her father's funeral, and now she is singing it to honor Bennington and her father. During the show, Toni said “It’s an honor to perform this for my dad and Chester and to sing for them.” If the video gets taken down, you can watch it here.

Cornell and Bennington were very close. Bennington even gave a eulogy at Cornell's funeral. After Cornell's death, Bennington took to Twitter and shared this tribute:

"You have inspired me in many ways you could never have known. Your talent was pure and unrivaled. Your voice was joy and pain, anger and forgiveness, love and heartache all wrapped up into one. I suppose that’s what we all are. You helped me understand that. I just watched a video of you singing ‘ A day in the life ‘ by the Beatles and thought of my dream. I’d like to think you were saying goodbye in your own way. I can’t imagine a world without you in it."

Bennington and Cornell performed on stage together on tour in 2008. Chester Bennington died via suicide by hanging, and was only 41 years old. He took his life on July 20th, what would've been Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell's 53rd birthday.
