AMON AMARTH To Begin Writing A New Album Later This Year

They haven't written on the road.

They haven't written on the road.

Good news! You might not have to wait until 2019 for a new Amon Amarth album! According to guitarist Johan Söderberg via an interview with Anti-Hero Magazine, the band will begin writing a new album once the Jomsviking tour wraps up.

"After this summer, we're done touring with this album. That's when we're gonna start to write stuff for the next one."

The album will be the first to feature ex-October Tide drummer Jocke Wallgren, who ended up being the official replacement of longtime drummer Fredrik Andersson. Wallgren did not join Amon Amarth in time to play on Jomsviking. Instead, the band recruited Cut Up drummer Tobias Gustafsson for the effort, and later hired Wallgren.

Söderberg also says the band now has the means to write on the road, but they just haven't.

"We actually never wrote anything on the road before. But on this summer run we have now, we actually just bought a little computer and sound interface that we actually can write on tour if we feel like it. But we haven't really started [yet]."

So there's something to look forward to in 2018, right?
