Deep Purple's bassist and RHCP's drummer, specifically.

Joe Satriani is one of those instrumental artists that simply transcends the interest of just instrumental music fans. His melodies and playing are just so damn good that it's really easy to get one of his tracks stuck in your head, and that includes his new song "Energy."

"Energy" features the rhythm section of bassist Glenn Hughes, who you might know from Deep Purple or as Black Sabbath's vocalist temporarily, and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, who also plays with Satriani in Chickenfoot. If there's anything that can be said about Satriani in 2017, it's that the dude has not lost an ounce of his energy or passion since he began putting out albums in the mid 1980's.

Satriani's new album What Happens Next is out January 12, 2018.
