Chilean black metal band Ater is now streaming their new single "Ignis Immortalis" alongside an insane music video directed by Zev Deans. The video also features practical FX work by Mark Schneider, Elle Taylor, and Monstark for that special cinematic touch. Oh, and the music slays big time.
"Legend says the Mapuche's Sun god 'Antu' fought other gods 'Peripillan' and his allies for envy and power," said frontman Fernando "Feroz" Bühring. "These battles forged the mountains, hills and lakes commonly found in the Araucanía region of the south. With his tears, Antu also created water and the oceans.
"This battles led Peripillan, god of blood, instinct and darkness, to be confined to the depths of the volcanos. With anger he makes the volcanos explode in warning of his ire.
"There is no real ending to the rivalry between Antu and Peripillan. We were inspired by this legends to create our own interpretation and ending to the story. Ancient spirits summon the Sun to destroy the world we made ill (to create a new one?)."
Ater will release their new record Somber on April 19. Somber was mixed by Feroz in a temporary studio in Mexico City and mastered by Ted Jensen of Sterling Sound (Mastodon, Gojira, Korn). Pre-orders are available here.
