After some teasing and plenty of pissing off Christians, Behemoth is back with a new single "The Shit Ov God" and a new record of the same name due out May 9. The single – whose music is a mid-tempo crusher and whose lyrics leave a little to be desired – comes alongside a predictably dark music video directed by Dariusz Szermanowicz.
"I've reached a point in Behemoth's journey and my own creativity where words and statements mean less and less," said Behemoth frontman and mastermind Nergal. "The true essence of who we are and what we stand for lies in our music, our art, our visuals, our sounds, our performances, and the ways we connect with you. I deeply believe Behemoth represents transcendent, timeless art.
"The number thirteen—so magical and significant. If this were to be our final album, I could say I die a proud man. Without a shadow of a doubt, this is the most refined, purest representation of Behemoth. No filler, no excess — just the very best we have to offer, handed to you. Hail Satan."
The Shit Ov God was produced by Jens Bogren of Fascination Street Studios (Emperor, Enslaved, Kreator, Rotting Christ, etc.), while the visuals for the record were created by Bartek Rogalewicz (BLACK.LODGE.IS.NOW) as well as Dark Sigil Workshop. Pre-orders are available here.
In addition to the record, Behemoth, Satyricon, and Rotting Christ will hit the road across Europe next April for their Unholy Trinity tour.
