Lamb Of God have released their documentary Making Of: Omens to a wide audience for the first time via YouTube. The 80-minute documentary chronicles the making of their latest album, Omens, which was released on October 7, 2022.
Omens was the band's second album with drummer Art Cruz, who joined Lamb Of God in 2019. In an interview with Knotfest last year, bassist John Campbell explained that the band decided to record Omens live in the studio in order to "do something different."
"I believe that was producer Josh Wilbur's idea to do that. I know he had a great place worked out to do that in. And we had just kind of been doing it the same way over and over and over again, and we were looking to get a little more excitement into it and maybe see if that couldn't produce a different feel on the record." Campbell explained.
The documentary features interviews with all of the band members, as well as producer Josh Wilbur. It also includes behind-the-scenes footage of the Lamb Of God recording and writing songs in the studio. Both band and Wilbur share a lot of insights into how they made Omens, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at how a metal album is made.
Making Of: Omens certainly provides a fascinating glimpse into the creative process of one of metal's most successful bands.
