METALLICA Streams Pro-Shot Footage Of Their "Inamorata" Live Debut

Yes, the long song.

Metallica debuted the 72 Seasons closer "Inamorata" during their May 26 show at Olympiastadion in Munich, Germany. The song is Metallica's longest to date, and the band is now streaming pro-shot footage of 11+ minute behemoth above.

On the song and its length, Metallica frontman James Hetfield said during a track-by-track breakdown of 72 Seasons: "'Inamorata' [is about] having a love affair with misery. A long classic song that screamed out to end the album. Really, really cool riffs in it, really great groove. I love the way it rounds this thing out."

In a 2023 interview with Music Radar, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich elaborated that the band didn't initially set out to write their longest song to date – it just happened that way.

"It was special from the first moment," said Ulrich. "It was special. It obviously didn't start off as an 11-minute song but it wanted to keep going, and there was a feeling as the ideas continued to show up that the song was calling out for, 'now we've got to take these detours and now we've got to go here, this bass breakdown…'

"I hear all the riffs, and these guys have to let me sort of cherry-pick the ones that will turn into songs, and from the first time I heard that, I thought, 'That sits somewhere else.'"
